We know you’ve been scrolling through venue after venue, each one promising the world with their all inclusive packages. And sure, there’s comfort in knowing exactly what you’ll get. But here’s what we’ve learned after 15 years in Chicago’s wedding scene: the couples who end up most in love with their celebration are the ones who built it themselves.
That’s why we designed Le Loft the way we did. This isn’t a ballroom with predetermined centerpieces or a hotel with a set menu you can barely tweak. It’s 4,800 square feet of exposed brick, factory windows, and color blocked walls that work as your starting point, not your limitation.
The Real Difference Between a Blank Canvas and a Package Deal
When you book an all inclusive package, you’re essentially buying someone else’s vision of what a wedding should look like. The florals come from their preferred designer. The food follows their set menu. The timeline matches their standard flow. It’s efficient, and it takes decisions off your plate, but it also means your celebration looks remarkably similar to the one that happened there last weekend.
A blank canvas venue works differently. We give you the foundation: a converted factory space with soaring ceilings, hardwood floors, and natural light that pours through wall to wall windows. We handle the tables, chairs, and setup for up to 78 seated guests or 125 standing. We provide the bar setup and altar arrangements. Then we step back and let you bring in the people and touches that actually reflect who you are.
You Choose the Food That Matters to You
BYOB and outside catering aren’t just policies we allow. They’re central to how creative couples use this space. We’ve watched Nigerian families bring in jollof rice that’s been perfected over generations. We’ve seen Indian couples coordinate with caterers who understand the exact spice levels their guests expect. One couple brought their favorite taco truck right to North Avenue because that’s where they had their first date.
You can work with any of the caterers on our preferred list, like Vendador or Cooking with Cuellar, or bring in someone entirely your own. Want your aunt’s homemade appetizers? Go for it. Planning a dessert bar with treats from Bee My Honey Sweets and Treats instead of a traditional cake? We’ll help you set it up.
Your Aesthetic, Not Ours
The design here is intentional but minimal. We took inspiration from Luis Barragan’s approach: vibrant pigments, clean lines, natural materials. The East Side feels light and modern. The West Side has a moodier vibe with a built in dance floor. Both sides have the kind of texture and grit that photographs beautifully without requiring you to cover it all up with fabric and florals.
That means you can go big with installations if that’s your thing. Some couples bring in Fieldman + Flora to create dramatic arrangements that fill the space. Others keep it simple with a few statement pieces. We’ve seen candlelit ceremonies with almost no florals and receptions that looked like art galleries. The space adapts.
You’re also working with a rotating disco ball and uplights that are already here. The Sonos sound system is yours to use. The Blue Disco Room can become a lounge or a kids’ hangout or a private dance floor, depending on what your group needs. These aren’t add ons you pay extra to unlock. They’re part of the space, ready for you to use however makes sense.
The Vendors You Actually Want
Open vendor policy means you’re not limited to a short list of people who pay to be on a preferred roster. If you have a photographer you love or a DJ who knows exactly how to read your crowd, bring them. If you want to work with Toast and Jam because they’re known for keeping dance floors packed, great. If you found someone on Instagram whose style feels perfect, even better.
We do keep a curated list of people we trust, like DJ Tess for entertainment and Carol’s Event Staffing if you need extra hands. But we’re not gatekeeping. You know your people better than we do.
Full Day Access Changes Everything
Booking from 12 PM to 11 PM, with next day pickup from 8 AM to 10 AM, gives you time most venues don’t. You can get ready here in the Bridal Suite. Your photographer can capture those quiet, early moments before guests arrive. Your team can set up without rushing. After the celebration, you’re not scrambling to tear everything down at midnight. You pack up the next morning when you’re rested.
That window also means you can flip the space from ceremony to reception without your guests noticing the transition. We handle the setup of tables, chairs, and furniture. You focus on what’s happening, not the logistics of making it happen.
What This Approach Requires From You
A blank canvas gives you freedom, but it also requires decisions. You’ll coordinate your caterer. You’ll confirm your bar order. If you want day of coordination, that’s an add on service we offer, but it’s not automatically included. Some couples love managing those details. Others prefer to add our coordinator so they can stay focused on their guests.
You’ll also work within our policies. Dogs are welcome for ceremonies but need to leave before food service starts. Events wrap by midnight on Fridays and Saturdays unless you arrange otherwise in advance. If you’re hosting more than 40 guests, you’ll need event insurance. These aren’t rigid rules meant to limit you. They’re the structure that keeps the space functional for everyone who uses it.
Who This Space Is Really For
We built this venue for couples who want something that feels like them, not like a wedding venue they saw on Pinterest. If you value texture and design, if you want your celebration to feel artistic without being overly formal, if you’re the type who finds beauty in industrial details and natural light, this works.
We’re tucked on the boundary of Logan Square and Bucktown, steps from Wicker Park, in a neighborhood that’s creative and unpretentious. You’re 15 minutes from downtown but surrounded by local spots and easy transit access. The vibe here matches the vibe out there.
We’ve hosted Indian, Nigerian, and Hispanic families who wanted space to celebrate their way. We’ve worked with couples who needed a ceremony and reception in the same place and others who used us just for the party. The through line is always the same: people who want flexibility over formulas.
Conclusion:
If the idea of making your own choices about food, florals, and flow sounds exciting rather than overwhelming, you’ll probably love this approach. If you want a celebration that looks and feels different from anything your guests have attended before, a blank canvas gives you that room. If you’re okay coordinating a few extra details in exchange for total creative control, it’s worth it.
If you’d rather have someone hand you a package and tell you where to show up, that’s completely valid too. There are great venues in Chicago that work that way. We’re just not one of them.

FAQs
Can I bring my own caterer and bartender?
Yes. Outside catering is allowed, and BYOB is our standard policy. You can also work with a licensed caterer if you want a full bar setup. Homemade appetizers and desserts are welcome too.
What’s included in the rental, and what do I need to arrange separately?
Your rental from 12 PM to 11 PM includes the full space, setup of tables and chairs for up to 70 seated guests, 80 padded folding chairs, bar setup, altar arrangements, and our sound system with projector and uplights. You’ll coordinate your own catering, florals, and any additional rentals or services like day of coordination.
How much time do we have for setup and teardown?
You have access starting at noon on your event day and until 11 PM that night. The next morning, you can pick up any remaining items between 8 AM and 10 AM. This gives you a full day without the rush.
What if we want help coordinating everything on the day of our wedding?
We offer day of wedding coordination as an add on service. A dedicated coordinator will make sure your event flows smoothly so you can focus on your guests. If you’d rather handle the details yourself, that works too.
